Maltodextrin Gel (Nessucar, Multidex) provides a moist environment around the wound promoting healing. It is used in the management of ulcerations, abrasions, and wounds.
Maltodextrin (Multidex Gel) Uses:
- it is indicated for the treatment of wounds (infected or noninfected)

- Multidex®:
- Before applying multidex over the wound, properly debride and irrigate the wound followed by the application of the nonadherent and non-occlusive dressing.
- Apply 1/4 " thick dressing over the entire wound.
- Fill in all the deep wounds completely with dressing.
- It may be applied to wounds that are moist or dry and infected or noninfected.
- The dressings must be changed once or twice daily.
Multidex Gel dose in children:
Refer to adult dosing.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Since it is applied as a topical dressing, there are no maternal or fetal risks involved. It can be used safely in pregnant and lactating women.
Dose in Kidney Disease:
Can be used safely in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Dose in Liver disease:
can be used safely in patients with liver disease.
Side effects of Maltodextrin (Multidex):
In clinical studies, no adverse effects were found.
Contraindications to Maltodextrin (Multidex):
- Third-degree burns: Avoid using it in third-degree burns.
Monitoring Parameters:
Monitor and observe the wound for clinical improvement.
How to administer Multidex Gel?
It is applied over infected or clean wounds as a 1/4 inch thick dressing that covers the entire wound area.
