1- Parkinson disease
2-Multiple system Atrophy aka Shy Drager Syndrome( The most common signs of dysautonomia in pathologically confirmed cases are bladder dysfunction (89%), particularly urinary incontinence (44%) and urinary retention (26%), bowel dysfunction (77%), particularly constipation (46%) and fecal incontinence (27%), orthostatic hypotension (75%), sexual dysfunction (64%), RBD (54%), sweating dysfunction (40%), sleep apnea (37%), and nocturnal stridor (30%) . In contrast to PD, MSA-P usually presents with symmetrical parkinsonism, often without tremor, with early instability and falls. Most patients become wheelchair bound within 5 years after onset).
3-Progressive Supranuclear Palsy(as a progressive illness characterized by vertical supranuclear ophthalmoplegia, axial rigidity, pseudobulbar palsy, and mild dementia, PSP is the second most common form of neurodegenerative atypical parkinsonism).
4-corticobasal degeneration
5-Frontotemporal degeneration with parkinsonism(Pick disease, pallidopontonigral degeneration, disinhibitiondementia-
parkinsonism-amyotrophy, familial multiple system tauopathy with presenile dementia, familial subcortical gliosis,
frontotemporal dementia (FTD), FTD with ALS, FTD with inclusion body myopathy, and FTDP-17).
6-Parkinsonism -Dementia complex of guam
7-guadeloupean Parkinsonism
8-Vascular Parkinsonism
9-Bilateral Striaopallidodentate Calcification(Fahr Disease}
10-Post Encephlitis Parkinsonism
11-Drug -Induced Parkinsonism(anti psychotic, anti dopaminergic emetics, reserpine ,tetrabenazine,aripiprazole,SSRI,Lithium,methyldopa,Vapproic acid,flunarizine and cinnarizine)
12-Toxin- Induced Parkinsonism(MPTP produced by monoamine oxidase, 1-methyl-4-phenylpropion-
oxypiperidine (MPP+), Co poisoning).
Can we give antipsychotics to patients with Parkinson's disease?
If yes, which antipsychotic is the safest one?
Antipsychotic are not safe in parkinsons disease, as they are dopamine receptors blockers they will aggravate the symptoms of parkinsons disease, longterm antipsychotic use can induce parkinsons disease. Arypical antipsychotic are safer than typical antipsychotic because of lesser affinity to dopamine receptors and more affinity to serotonin receptors
