Alclometasone cream is a low to medium-potency topical steroid used in the treatment of steroid-responsive skin disorders.
It possesses anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties.
Aclovate (Alclometasone dipropionate) Uses:
- A topical steroid called alclometasone is used to treat many skin disorders including eczema, psoriasis, and others by reducing swelling, itching, dryness, and pain.
- It is also used to treat drug-induced skin reactions. However, it should not be used to treat acne and yeast infections.
- Steroids can worsen acne and infections, especially yeast infections.
- The application of alclometasone dipropionate, like other topical steroids, should be avoided over the face, genitals, armpits, and breasts.
Alclometasone dipropionate for adult Steroid-responsive dermatoses:
Topical: 1-2 times per day, apply a thin coating to the afflicted region.
Reassessment of the diagnosis may be required if the improvement is not apparent within 2 weeks after control is attained; therapy should be stopped at that point.
Use in children:
Children 1 year of age or older:
- 2-3 times each day, apply a thin coating to the afflicted region.
Note:
- If control is attained, stop the therapy. Consider a different diagnosis when reevaluating if progress is not evident.
- Do not use it for more than three weeks in children. Apply occlusive dressings for refractory and deep-seated skin disorders.
Pregnancy Risk Factor C
- Large portions of the body, lengthy periods of time, or excessive dosages of topical medications should not be used.
- Breastfeeding mothers should be cautious

Contraindications to Alclometasone cream
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation, including alclometasone
- Apply over the face Apply to infected areas, such as yeast infections.
Monitor:
- Long-term steroid use can suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.
- Cortisol and ACTH stimulation test may be done if it is suspected.
How to apply alclometasone cream?
- Exclusively for external usage. To clean, dry skin, apply a thin coating, and then gently massage it in.
- Keep your distance from the breasts, groyne, underarms, face, and eyes. If there are any open or weeping lesions present, they should not be utilised.
- Before and after using, wash your hands thoroughly.
