L Lysine is an essential amino acid that is primarily used as a dietary supplement in patients who have anxiety and stress.

It has been studied along with L Arginine as complementary and alternative medicine to lower stress levels and help the body cope with the stress.

It promotes healing and has activity against herpes simplex infection and may be used for the treatment and prevention of cold sores.

It is used in patients with oral ulcers, mucositis (radiation and chemotherapy-induced mucositis), and wound healing. It is also thought to have an effect on the bones and mineral metabolism and prevent osteoporosis.

L-Lysine Uses:

Side effects of L Lysine:

    • People with kidney disease should not take excessive amounts of the drug.
  • Hypercalcemia:

    • This can lead to increased calcium absorption.
    • It should be used with caution for patients with primary hyperparathyroidism and other conditions that can lead to hypercalcemia, such as multiple myeloma, metastatic bone disease, or primary hyperparathyroidism.
    • Patients with high blood calcium levels should be monitored regularly.
